Why Religious Leaders Must Visit Jerusalem in their Lifetime

March 25, 2020 by Carter

Anytime spiritual leaders think of a religious city to visit then Jerusalem tops the list. It is a holy city among the Muslims, Christians and the Jews. The current capital of Israel takes pride in historical and religious culture.

It is a trip worth the investment whether as a group or an individual. The Holy City has the following cultural, religious and historical sites that you must visit.

  • Jerusalem Centre of Performing Arts
  • German colony
  • City of Bethlehem In South Jerusalem
  • Holy sites

                     I. Garden Tomb for Christians
II. Al Aqsa Mosque for Muslims
III. Four Sephardic Synagogues for Jews

Spiritual leaders disseminate information to the congregation about the history of the supernatural being they believe in. These are events that happened in the world history that is of importance for the leaders to visit and have a practical approach to their preaching-very crucial in spreading the Gospel.

Here are some reasons why you must visit Jerusalem as a religious leader

A place of Peace and Harmony

In the History of Christianity, Jerusalem as the place where Abraham was to sacrifice his son. Instead, God appeared to him in the form of a lamb. Leaders would want to visit the place where God appeared to His people.

That in itself creates a peaceful and harmonious environment. Moreover, when Israelites were in exile, those who could not reach Jerusalem were asked to build their churches facing the old city as a sign of solidarity.

Beginning of spiritual Journey among Muslims

Muslims take a trip to Jerusalem, currently, Mecca in the religious life. It is the place where Prophet Muhammad started his daily prayer facing the sacred Mosque. It is a place full of Muslim history, one of the Descendants of Abraham is among the Muslim prophets.

Follows the footsteps of Christ

You remember the story of Jesus turning water into wine? – It was in Jerusalem. It is a holy city where Jesus performed miracles. It traces the last journey of Jesus in the world up to His death. This is the city He was crucified and buried.

As a Christian leader, the entire New Testament of the Bible is traced to this old and holy city. When you want to learn the footsteps of Christ especially in his last journey, it was when He entered Jerusalem. It is a game-changer visit; you get to have a tour of all His footsteps until when He left the World to Heaven.

Appreciate Palestine culture and tradition

The State of Palestine is in East Jerusalem. Spiritual leaders find it difficult to reach their traditional norms amidst modernity incorporated in the digital age. A visit to Jerusalem extends to Palestinian State to help them understand the Muslim, Christian and Jewish traditions and culture.

This is an area renowned for the maintenance of culture as much as there is an interracial corporation. The culture cuts across the language, art, cuisine, custom and religion. Make sure you collect all the souvenirs to act as evidence of your visit.

What a place to benchmark on how to maintain culture and tradition in the modern/ digital society.

Fun and Entertainment

You have left your country to visit this part of the continent. Yes, you have gone to learn but you also need to have fun while in this holy city. There is a lot of fun activities you can do while here. It makes it a perfect place for a family outing. The time of visit is ideal whether you can engage in an indoor or outdoor activity.
